Abstract

The pandemic forced educational institutions to close schools to prevent the spread of the virus. Globally, covid-19 has converted face-to-face learning to distance learning. It is not only the learning implementation in the formal education sector, but also the non-formal education sector. This study aimed to analyze how the changes and adaptation of learning before and during the Covid-19 pandemic in Sanggar Anak Alam Yogyakarta. The learning adaptation process was studied employing the narrative inquiry approach. Data were collected through observation and interviews. The results show that at Sanggar Anak Alam Yogyakarta, learning process before Covid-19 was held directly in the outside environment. During the pandemic, it was converted to learning from home. The learning process previously ran every Monday to Friday, which involved a research project using an experiential learning model. During the pandemic, the learning process maintained the research projects per semester with a slightly different mentoring process. The experiential and project-based learning models were maintained by the school as learning strategies so that what students learned is still relevant. This research also suggests that Sanggar Anak Alam Yogyakarta need to develop and apply technology in the learning process to prepare students to deal with the 4.0 Industrial Revolution era.
