BUKAN OBJEK, SISWA ADALAH SUBJEK PENDIDIKAN: POTRET PARTISIPASI SISWA DALAM PERUMUSAN KEBIJAKAN DI SEKOLAH

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi partisipasi siswa dalam kerangka yang dikembangkan oleh Lundy, yang terdiri dari empat elemen kunci: ruang, suara, audiens, dan pengaruh. Meskipun terdapat jaminan hukum terhadap hak-hak anak, mereka sering kali terpinggirkan dalam proses perencanaan dan pengambilan keputusan. Penelitian dengan metode kualitatif ini dilakukan melalui studi kasus di sekolah dasar di Kota Mataram. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dengan kepala sekolah, guru, orang tua, dan siswa. Temuan penelitian mengungkap adanya ketidaksesuaian dalam interpretasi mengenai hak berpartisipasi bagi anak dalam konteks pendidikan. Meskipun siswa diberi kesempatan, seperti melalui forum kelas untuk mengemukakan pendapat mereka tentang masalah pendidikan, keterlibatannya terkadang diwakili oleh orang dewasa. Akibatnya, siswa tidak selalu menerima respons optimal dari proses yang mereka ikuti karena adanya hambatan birokratis dalam sistem di sekolah. Penelitian ini menekankan adanya persepsi umum bahwa anak-anak kurang memiliki kapasitas pengambilan keputusan dalam domain publik. Untuk memastikan partisipasi siswa yang bermakna dalam pengambilan keputusan di sekolah, diperlukan kebijakan yang menghargai dan memfasilitasi suara siswa tanpa intervensi dari orang dewasa.
